Year 5

Welcome to Year 5's Class Page Autumn 2022

Mr Lovatt and Mrs Bundy

Welcome to the Year 5 autumn term! This first term in Year 5 is full of new responsibilities, new experiences and of course new challenges. Mrs Bundy and I are excited to share this part of your learning journey with you.

Our Autumn Term Curriculum Vehicle is 'Sharing a Victorian Christmas'.

We will be learning all about the Victorian era and examples of local history during our history lessons this term. Pupils a visit the Black Country Museum, receive the Birmingham ‘museum in a box,’ with the purpose of creating a story of local history which they can share with the residents of Dora Rose Care home when visiting during the Christmas period.

Class reminders:

  • School starts at 8.40 with our first lesson starting promptly at 8.45. Year 5 finish at 3.20 pm
  • PE will be on Tuesdays and Fridays and children should come to school wearing PE kit on these days
  • Pupils will arrive in the morning and line up by the double gates leading through to the field. At the end of the day pupils can be collected by the double gates next to the staff carpark gate.
  • A list of recommended reads for Year 5. Best Books for Year 5 | Ages 9-10 | BooksForTopics
  • In PSHE lessons this year, pupils will be learning about puberty and the changes which occur within the body. If any pupils feel uncomfortable about this topic, then they are encouraged to speak to a member of staff about their queries and concerns. Equally, if parents and pupils would like to seek additional information or address any misconceptions then the NHS website is an excellent resource.  'Talking to your children (years 5 & 6) about puberty: Children and Family Health Surrey (childrenshealthsurrey.nhs.uk)'

As always if you wish to discuss any aspect of the Year 5 Curriculum or any issues regarding your child, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment either by phone or email office@st-annes-weepingcross.staffs.sch.uk

Please check back weekly to see what Year 5 have been up to as they love to share their learning journey!
