Autumn Curriculum
Let's Celebrate Together
During the first half of the Autumn term, our focus in reception is on supporting the children to settle into their new class. Lots of opportunity is given for children to explore the environment both indoors and outside. Through positive praise, pupils are encouraged to learn and follow our classroom rules. The children are also supported in developing positive relationships with each other, they learn to work collaboratively and are encouraged to develop friendships with everybody in our class. To support their transition into school, each child is also buddied up with a Special Friend from year 6. Their Special Friend will get to know them and their interests and support them as they join our St Anne's family.
For our Autumn term vehicle, we will be looking at different celebrations from around the world. This will lead up to a special Christmas trip for the children and the much anticipated school nativity. We will be learning about the celebrations Diwali, bonfire night, Hannukah and Christmas. Pupils will learn how and where these celebrations are celebrated.
The children will be inviting local parishioners to the nativity dress rehearsal, this will give them the chance to perform in front of an audience before their family come in to watch them and to entertain and meet members of our local parish. Our nativity will be a wonderful way to finish the children's first term in school as we CELEBRATE TOGETHER!
We LOVED meeting our special friends for the first time!
Celebrating Diwali
On Friday 21st October, we spent the day celebrating Diwali. As part of our celebrations, Juhi came in to lead a Bhangra dancing workshop which we did with our special friends.
Having fun on our Christmas trip
