Spring Curriculum

Our Spring Term Curriculum Vehicle is 'Dirt is Good'.

 

Year 5 to undergo 3 projects to care for the ecology of their school, their local area and an area of particular interest. This project will empower Year 5 by providing them with challenges, tools and ideas to take action to help have a positive impact in their local communities and on the planet. This project will also have an impact on has a positive impact on young people’s wellbeing.

24th January 2023 - Music Lesson (Ode to Joy) 

This term we have been learning about Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven in our music lessons. We were initially playing the melody with one hand, but we have now learnt to play some chords so now we use two hands!

27th January 2023 – Geography lesson (Structure of a volcano) 

This term we have been learning about Volcanoes and Earthquakes in our Geography lessons. We have already explored the layers of the earth and how tectonic plates move across the earths crust. This lesson we created chatterboxes to help visualise the structure of a volcano

On Friday 17th February 2023, Year 5 planted trees across the perimeter of the school field. The trees had been kindly donated by JCB, Stafford Country Council and Forests of Mercia. David and Catherine from Forest of Mercia also provided equipment and demonstrations to assist pupils in protecting the saplings once planted. A huge thank you to everyone that provided trees and equipment as well as all the parents and carers that came to help!

23rd March 2023 - CAFOD Walk

 

On Thursday 23rd March 2023, Year 5 continued their Lenten walks around the field to raise money for CAFOD. We were joined by nursery and reception and we walked around together! If you would like to support then please bring in the CAFOD sponsorship forms.
