Autumn Curriculum

Week Commencing 21st November 2020 Investigating light and dark

This week we investigated light and dark.  We discussed what light sources would help us to see in the dark and made our own night lights to take home 🌓 💡 🔦

Our visit from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service - Tuesday 15th November 2022

AUTUMN 2

In the second half of the Autumn term we will be looking at world celebrations such as Diwali, bonfire night and Christmas.  We will be going on a special Christmas trip to see Santa and his reindeers and also preparing for our Early Years nativity, where we will be inviting our St Anne's parishioners to come into school and watch our dress rehearsal!!

Friday 4th November 2022 Open Morning

This morning we welcomed the families of our children into our classroom. They enjoyed looking at all of the learning we had done in the first half of the Autumn term and joined in with some our learning activities.  We showed them how we practise our super scissor skills and how we use playdough to strengthen our fingers and hands. In maths we made patterns with natural objects and we even made our own Catherine wheels in readiness for Bonfire Night! We had such a busy morning! In the afternoon we had a toffee apple treat! 🍁 🔥 🍎 🧨 🎆

During the first half of the Autumn term our Curriculum Vehicle in Nursery is "Marvellous Me".  The children will be encouraged to discuss who lives in their house by sharing in class their house template with family photographs attached.

The children will look closely at themselves and those around them - I can paint my own face.

The children will work on large scale creative work to paint me! - I can work in a team.

We will look closely at how we are all different but all special - I can say why I am special!

The children will begin to develop compassion and respect for each other and can begin to work with their friends in Nursery and share the resources and toys in the classroom with each other.  They will begin to complete an activity with support from a grown up.  They will also begin to understand that we are all different and that some of their friends in Nursery are from different cultures.
