We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break!  Thank you so much for all the generous gifts we received for Christmas from the children, we were really touched by your kindness.

The children have settled back into school very well this week.  We have started thinking about the winter season and recognising signs of this season.  We will continue working on this over the coming weeks, so you may wish to talk about signs of winter with your child while you are out and about.  This week we read Blue Penguin and Lost and Found and the children did some super maths work focusing on the numbers 6, 7 and 8.

For homework your child has brought home a letter formation sheet, we are working on the children beginning letters in the correct place and forming each letter correctly.  Below is a list of 5 'red words' these are words which the children can not blend using their sounds, they need to learn these words by sight.  Please look at these words with your child and practise recognising these at home.  Your child may also like to sing the winter song we heard in school this week, they have learnt the chorus in school (see link below).

Thank you for your continued support and happy new year from the reception team.
