Our learning this term

As part of our learning in RE, Year 5 reflected on yesterday’s Feast of the Ascension by writing diary entries as though they were one of the disciples witnessing Jesus ascend into Heaven.

The children thoughtfully explored the feelings the disciples may have experienced — sadness, awe, confusion and hope — while remembering Jesus’ promise to remain with His followers always.

This activity gave the children a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding of this important feast in the Catholic Church and to reflect on the message of faith and trust that the Ascension brings. We are very proud of their thoughtful and prayerful writing.

🌍✨ Year 5 scientists have been exploring the heliocentric model, discovering how the planets orbit the Sun! ☀️🪐

Using their scientific understanding, the children worked collaboratively to create their own models of the solar system to help explain how our universe is organised. Fantastic teamwork, creativity, and scientific thinking all round! 👏🔭

On Wednesday 6th May, our Year 5 children led a beautiful Stay and Pray focused on Mary and her faithful “yes” to God.

Through prayer, reflection, readings, and thoughtful presentations, the children reminded us of the courage, trust, and love shown by Mary, especially during this special Month of May dedicated to her.

We are so proud of the reverence, confidence, and care our children showed in planning and leading this meaningful time of worship for our school community.

Year 5 have been diving into the world of 3D modelling in Computing this week!

The children explored how to design their own transport vehicles by moving and adjusting points to shape unique creations. They showed great creativity while refining their models, carefully adding details such as windows and headlights to bring their designs to life.

Some pupils went even further by experimenting with patterns and textures, giving their vehicles a truly personalised touch. It’s been fantastic to see their imagination and problem-solving skills in action as they learn the fundamentals of digital design!
