Year 6

For ‘International Mother Language Day’, Mrs Da Silva visited Y6 to talk about her home country, Brazil. The children enjoyed hearing about traditions such as ‘Festa Junina’ a joyful Brazilian festival celebrated in June. This festival celebrates three important Saints- St Anthony, St John the Baptist and St Peter. The children were also very pleased to try some delicious cake made from corn that would be eaten as part of the celebration. In addition to this, they learnt how to say thank you in Portuguese! Obrigada Mrs Da Silva!

We also had a fantastic presentation from Nwando, talking about Nigeria and the Igbo people. She talked about beliefs, traditional clothing and festivals. Thank you Nwando!
