Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful day at Oscott College, taking part in activities inspired by Laudato Siβ, Pope Francisβ message about caring for our common home. ππ Through prayer, reflection, and hands-on learning, the children explored how we can all play our part in protecting Godβs creation β from recycling and reducing waste to appreciating the beauty of nature around us. πΌποΈ A huge thank you to everyone at Oscott College for making the day so inspiring and welcoming! Our pupils came back full of enthusiasm and ideas about how to live out Laudato Siβ in their everyday lives. πβ¨
Teamwork across the school! This week, Year 5 and Reception joined forces to complete their RE display all about hope. Together, the older children supported our youngest pupils with creativity and care, helping them share their own wonderful ideas. β¨ Their displays are now full of thoughtful reflections, bright artwork, and powerful messages about what hope means to us as a school community. ππ It was lovely to see the children learning from each other and celebrating the theme of hope side by side. Well done, Reception and Year 5!
On Tuesday, Year 5 were busy budding scientists! As part of their learning about friction, the children carried out an exciting experiment using jelly cubes. One cube was covered in oil while the other was left as it was β and they quickly discovered just how much slipperier the oiled jelly was! This fun hands-on activity helped them see how friction works in real life and why surfaces can feel so different. Lots of great scientific thinking, predicting, and testing from our Year 5s β well done!
Year 5 have completed their fantastic double page spreads in Art based on their artist of the term, LS Lowry
