Prayer Liturgies

Celebration of the word Structure

Gather:

We begin or enter – this could be to music, singing together, saying a prayer or just a quiet moment. We aim to create an atmosphere of prayer.

Word:

This is a reading from scripture or sometimes another focus based on scripture. We pause at times for quiet contemplation.

Respond:

This is what we do in response to the scripture.  It may be quiet reflection, a formal or informal prayer or responding to bidding prayers. We may also do something such as placing a pebble or other marker on the collective worship display or share our thoughts.

Mission:

We help those present to take the message away with them – prayer card, picture, common prayer, action etc.

Year 3 Stay and Pray

Year 3 enjoyed a beautiful Stay and Pray session this week as we continued our journey through Advent. Parents and carers were invited to join the children for a peaceful time of reflection, prayer, and Scripture, helping us prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus.

Together, we explored the Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love, and thought about how we can share Christ’s light with others during this special season. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to pause, pray, and experience the true meaning of Advent within our school community.

Year 4 Stay and Pray

A big thank you to all of the grown ups that attended Year 4’s stay and pray this morning. The children chose the readings, the objects on the prayer table and the ‘respond’ section of their prayer time. They also delivered the session beautifully. They really enjoyed making their dove prayers of hope. Well done Year 4.

‘Let’s shine with hope for others’.

Year 2 Stay and Pray

We are always delighted to welcome our parents and carers into school. On Monday 1st December, our Year 2 children led a special “Stay and Pray” time, reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts during Advent and show love and kindness to others.

Year 1 Stay and Pray

Our Year 1 children welcomed their parents and carers into school for a truly special Stay and Pray session. Together, we reflected on the theme of hope—a light that guides us, strengthens us, and reminds us of God’s loving presence in our lives.

Families had the joy of creating their very own Jar of Hope. Inside each jar, children and adults placed small notes filled with prayers, wishes, Scripture-inspired messages, and hopes for the year ahead. It was beautiful to see parents and carers supporting their children, talking about what hope means, and sharing moments of quiet reflection and gratitude.

The classroom was filled with warmth and faith as little hands and big hands worked side by side. Each jar became a symbol of trust in God, belief in His promises, and the wonderful things He continues to do in our families and school community.

We are so grateful to every parent and carer who joined us today. Your presence made the morning even more meaningful, and your partnership helps our children grow not only in learning but also in faith.

Year 2 Prayer Assembly

"Year 2 Shines with the Light of Faith!"
Today, our Year 2 students led a beautiful Prayer Assembly celebrating their class saint, Saint Lucy — the patron saint of light. Through prayer, song, and reflection, they reminded us that even the smallest light can shine brightly in the darkness when guided by faith and love. 💡🙏

Year 6 Stay and Pray - November 2025

Our Year 6 pupils led a beautiful Stay and Pray service focused on remembrance at the Baswich War Memorial. Together, they reflected on the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for peace. Through prayer, silence, and thoughtful reflection, the children honoured their memory and asked God to bless all who work for justice and harmony in our world today. Surrounded by our community and the peaceful setting of the memorial, it was a moving reminder of the power of faith, gratitude, and hope.

Year 5 Stay and Pray - October 2025

Our Year 5 children led a beautiful Stay and Pray session, reflecting on the power and peace of the Holy Rosary. 🌟

With reverence and joy, the children guided us through the mysteries of the Rosary, helping us draw closer to Jesus through the eyes of Mary. The decade of the Joyful Mysteries was offered with thoughtful intentions, reminding us of the importance of prayer, reflection, and faith in our daily lives. 💖

A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us in this special time of prayer. Your presence and support mean so much to our school community. 🌍✝️

Let us continue to walk with Mary, holding the Rosary as a sign of hope, love, and trust in God.

Year 2 Prayer Assembly

Year 2 led the whole school in a Prayer Liturgy all about their class saint 'Saint Lucy' They were able to articulate why they chose her as their saint and how she dedicated her life to follow God.

Year 5 Prayer Assembly

Year 5 led a beautiful Prayer Liturgy all about their RE learning on Creation. The children discussed the story of creation as a way of explaining that God is creator and reflected  on their God given talents and living their lives in response to the teaching of Christ.
