In General

Continue with daily phonic sound practise.

Continue with daily tricky word practise.

Reading

Help inspire your child to read by:

  • Share a story together
  • Tell your own made up stories
  • Make a story den
  • Have a pyjama day and read lots of books
  • Make a story circle – pass the book around the circle to tell the story
  • Read story without the words – look at the illustrations and make it up!

Phonics

Tell your child  that he/she needs to choose 3 random sounds.

Put a selection of either printed or handwritten sounds in a container and ask your child to take three out without looking.

Ask your child to think of as many different words that they can beginning with the chosen sounds.

Now think of different words with the sounds in the middle of words or at the end, making an ‘end sound’.

Extra challenge: try to write down some of the words you have thought of.

Maths
