Tuesday 28th April
Encourage your child to sing the alphabet with you to recap alphabetical order (and letter names rather than letter sounds). Using flashcards or plastic/wooden letters (I have attached some flashcards in case you haven't got any!), encourage your child to form a rainbow shape with the letters in alphabetical order, with the middle letter of the alphabet at the top of the rainbow. You can sing the alphabet with them again to check the order!
Then, using the rainbow you have created, solve the alphabetical order problem to reveal a joke!
Maths - Using Symbols (Division)
Similarly to yesterday, today we are going to introduce the symbol for division.
To begin with, remind your child of the sharing activities from last week before getting them to show you (using practical resources), for example, 15 slices of pizza shared between 3 people.
Then, ask them to explain this out loud (e.g. “there are 15 slices of pizza. There are 3 people. Each person gets 5 slices of pizza.”)
Then, show your child how we can use the division symbol to help us write this (e.g. 15 ÷ 3). One way to help them remember the symbol is to get them to see that two dots have been "divided" by the line between them
I have added a 2Do on Purple Mash to help you practise. You need to match the number sentence to the correct picture / representation!
If you are like me, you're probably mainly eating monster munch at the moment, so I thought it would be a nice idea to do a lesson on healthy eating! First, watch the attached videos all about Healthy Eating. Then, ask your mummy or daddy if you can help them to prepare a healthy lunch, dinner or snack - I’m sure they’ll appreciate the help! Have a think about all the different ingredients - are they healthy or unhealthy? If you’re not sure, ask whoever you are helping! We are very excited to see your delicious creations!
Every morning Joe Wicks is hosting a live PE lesson on his YouTube channel at 9am. Don't worry if you can't wake up that early, they are on YouTube all day!
