Tuesday 21st April
Fun with Phonics/Reading
- Get caught reading – read a book in an exciting place in your home or garden and take a picture of it. We would love to see the pictures!
- Make a den at home and fill it full of books. Get a torch and try reading in the dark.
- Log into Oxford Owl (free) and listen to an audio book.
Share the *power point story ‘Seren’s Seasons’ with your child
Now, can they draw a picture of their favourite season and write underneath what they like doing during that
In summer I like to...
In winter I like to...
Counting forwards and backwards 0 – 20 then 20 – 0
Play the *power point and as you click through the slide show ask your child to call out the numbers they see.
Write the numbers 0 to 20 on little pieces of card or paper and then get your child to order the numbers 0 to 20 then backwards 20 down to 0. Encourage your child to practise writing the numbers in order forwards and backwards.
Prayer and the Easter Candle
Show a picture of the Easter candle to your child.
Explain that it lives in church and is different from other candles.
Tell your child it is a special candle for Easter, a sign of celebration and a
reminder that Jesus came alive and is the light of our world.
Activity: Can your child draw, paint/decorate a picture of an Easter candle?
Prayer: I have included four of our daily prayers that the children say in school.
Enjoy sharing these prayers together as a family.
You could light a candle in your house when you pray together. This is familiar to the children as it is something that we do in class on a daily basis when we say these prayers.
Father in heaven, you love me,
you are with me night and day.
I want to love you always
in all I do and say.
I’ll try to please you Father
bless me through the day
Prayer at the end of the day
God our Father, we come to say
Thank you for your love today.
Thank you for my family
and all the friends you give to me.
Guard me in the dark of night and
in the morning send your light
Before Dinner Prayer
Bless us O God as we sit together,
Bless the food we eat today,
Bless the hands that made the food,
Bless us O God
After Dinner Prayer
Thank you God for the food we have eaten,
thank you God for all our friends,
Thank you God for everything,
thank you God
