What Did You Put In My Lunchbox?

Good for applying blending skills.

Model-write a simple letter with the children. Work together to write a letter from Cody to the caterpillar at the end of the story, describing how much fun it is being a butterfly.

You could use this template if you are able to print or just use a home-made template.

Let’s make more repeating patterns...

Choose 2 of your favourite-coloured pens. Draw a circle with one colour and a triangle with another, then another circle with the same first colour and another triangle with the same second colour.  Continue the pattern. Can you make a pattern with the 2 the same, then another 2 the same, e.g. ‘red, red, blue, blue’?

Ask Mummy or Daddy to clap a repeating pattern for you to copy. Repeat it back to them. Then, you clap a repeating pattern and see if they can repeat it. Try this with some other body percussion, including tapping on your legs, knees, shoulders and head. You could tap your hands, knees, head, hands, knees, and head.

This week’s Gospel reading tells us all about the story of The Good Shepherd and The Lost Sheep.

Remind the children about the meaning of the word ‘shepherd’ and the job a shepherd does.

Share this power point story and very endearing video with your child. There is also a template if you would like to make a sheep mask. You could add some cotton wool to the mask to make it more reaslistic.

This explains that God has a plan and a path for each one of us to follow. We stray from him but he longs to bring us back and never gives up until he finds us because he loves each one of us so much.

A prayer to share:

Thank you, Jesus, for telling the story of the lost sheep,

I’m glad you are like the good shepherd and love me,

Always keep me close to you,
