Reading

Please read with your child everyday. You can read their library book from school or any home story books you may have. Also, please listen to your child read their school reading book to you each day. It is vitally important that the children do this. Reading the book only once is not going to help your child  learn to read. Practise this skill daily and look at the illustrations, talk about what is happening or what you think may happen next etc.

Children need to get a deep understanding of what they are reading (comprehension).

Reading books are changed on a Monday so all book bags must come into school on that day as we have a lovely lady, who comes into class, voluntarily, to organise this.

Library books are changed on a Tuesday. Where possible, children have the chance to choose their own library book but occasionally a surprise book may be put into their book bag, by another lovely lady, who comes in voluntarily to help.

Please bring your child's book bag into school everyday as there may be information to send home and putting items in the book bag is a great way of getting things  to you when we need to.

If you need any additional information about how to support your child learn to read, please come and see me.
