Good Morning Nursery!!

We hope that you have had a lovely weekend and had lots of fun learning and enjoying your VE day

celebrations.  We don't know about you, but we are having so much fun learning about mini beasts!! This week we have lots of activities planned about bees! We can't wait to see all of your wonderful creations again.

Lots of love

Mrs Little and Miss Cummins xxx

We are learning about bees, how important they are and the busy jobs that they do.

Ask the children if they have ever seen a bee and if so where.  Ask them if they know what special thing bees make.  Explain the process of the bee carrying pollen from flower to flower whilst collecting nectar so it can make honey.  Show the children a short clip of bees collecting nectar and pollen from the internet and then show them the episode one of Maya the Bee.

Tell the children that Buzzy Bee has a song that will help to practise saying all the numbers in order to ten.  Play the Buzzy Bees Counting Song PowerPoint through and encourage the children to listen to the words. They can also represent the numbers on their fingers. You will need to sing to the tune of ‘1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive’.

Encourage children to join in with the words as well as using their fingers.

What number comes first?

What number comes after seven? Etc.

Buzzy Bee thinks he has to always start from number one, do you agree/disagree? Can we start counting at any number? Have a think about the words in the rhyme.

Looking at bees – what do we know about bees?  What did you learn from the Maya the Bee story? What colour are bees?

Can you paint or colour a picture of bees in their beehive.  Think about what colours you will need to use.  If you're feeling really adventurous you could use your hand or foot to make a bee from...have a google!!
