Play the phonics game to develop listening skills, listen to the sound and see if you can match it to the picture.
Play a game of I Spy - take turns to play I Spy with my little eye.  Use pretend binoculars when it is your turn to add interest.  "I spy with my little eye something beginning with...S for example, encouraging your child to listen and identify the initial sound.


Reread the story "Stick Man" listening out for the repeated refrains and rhyming words.  Encourage your child to join, pause just before rhyming words to see if your child can shout it out to you.  

Can you make your own Stick Man?




A simple game to play with your child.  Roll a dice (if you have one) or make some number cards 1-10 on paper.  Pick a number or look what number the dice rolls onto (encourage your child to count the spots on the dice).  Can they count the same amount of objects to match that number.  You can use lego, blocks, dried pasta, cereal (cheerios).
