Good Morning Year 1,

I hope that you have all had an enjoyable, relaxing weekend after a very strange first week of term.

Story Time

Let's start the morning with a story. Follow the link to listen to 'A Squash and a Squeeze' by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler (read by Miss Squire).

Phonics

Tune in to the 'Ruth Miskin Training' YouTube channel for a daily speed sound lesson. The films will be available from 9:30am and you can access them for 24 hours. Here is a link to the playlist where you can find set 1, 2 and 3 speed sounds.

If you are feeling confident with your speed sounds, you should have a go at one of the other videos such as 'reading longer words', 'reading red words 1', 'reading red words 2', 'read and hold a sentence 1' and 'read and hold a sentence 2'.

Reading

Creating a free account on Oxford Owl will provide you with access to a range of eBooks. Look in your book-bag to see your Oxford Owl book band colour and enjoy daily reading. Remember to read books more than once to ensure that you understand what you are reading and try to read with expression.
